Animation Instructor

Digital-Tutors is looking for talented Animation Instructors to assist our Creative and R&D Teams in creating the next generation of our award-winning training solutions for film, games, commercial, and emerging media. 

The Animation Instructors will be skilled at animating both human and non-humanoid characters. A solid grasp of the principles of body movement, anticipation, overshoot, follow-through, squash and stretch, forward and inverse kinematics, and other facets of both 2D and 3D animation is essential. Formal teaching experience is not required, but Animation Instructors must have strong working knowledge of software and the ability to teach artists topics, tools, workflow, and production techniques.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong demonstrable understanding of the principles of story-telling and animation
  • High level experience with 3D software such as Maya, 3ds Max, and XSI
  • Strong ability to create full character animation (block and polish) for any character type
  • Ability build rigs that can be used as a basis for articulation and demonstration
  • Must work well in a team environment and be open to direction
  • Strong sense of body movement and body mechanics
  • Knowledge of Motion Builder is a bonus as is experience working with mocap data
  • Passion for learning and teaching
  • Experience with teaching/training/mentoring artists on subject matter a big plus
  • Feature film production and/or game experience a plus

Compositing Instructor

Digital-Tutors is looking for talented Compositing Instructors to assist our Creative and R&D Teams in creating the next generation of our award-winning training solutions for film, games, commercial, and emerging media.

The Compositing Instructor(s) will be skilled at setting up lighting and cameras for rendering and compositing several layers of rendered frames to create realistic movie quality imagery. Formal teaching experience is not required, but Compositing Instructor(s) must have strong working knowledge of compositing software and the ability to teach artists topics, tools, workflow, and production techniques. Ideal candidates will be very organized and able to deal with several shots and layers at a time and have the ability to balance timely turnaround and achieve a high degree of aesthetic quality. Candidate(s) will also have an exceptional eye for lighting and composition.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent 3D compositing/lighting skills as demonstrated on your demo reel
  • Experience software such as Shake, Fusion, Toxik required
  • Experience with 3D software such as Maya, 3DS Max, XSI
  • Well versed in node base, floating point compositing pipelines
  • Outstanding eye for light, shade, color, color spaces, and detail
  • Must work well in a team environment and be open to direction
  • Passion for learning and teaching
  • Experience with teaching/training/mentoring artists on subject matter a big plus
  • Feature film production experience a plus
